Galena Creek Trail

GALENA CREEK, a hiking area that holds lots of late fall bloomers. This trail takes you along some vibrant fall colors with open views of the Sierra Mountain range and Washoe Valley. Accessed along Highway 431, 13 miles over the summit -- after a series of switchbacks, look for the maintenance station and park at the dirt turnout on the left across from the station. Follow the faint trail to the west of the turnout. The path will drop down to the creek and a log crossing along the creek. The trail connects to the Mount Rose Summit trail 4 miles from the turnout. This trail is a moderate 8-mile roundtrip.
