NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT OPENS SUPERPIPE, ADDS NEW SIGNATURE FEATURES TO TERRAIN PARKS
Red Bull, Capix Sponsor Unique Freestyle Features in Resort’s Award-Winning Terrain Parks
Feb. 5, 2009 – Ranked among the
top three in the nation by readers of Transworld Snowboarding in the
categories of Overall Resort, Parks and Pipes, Northstar-at-Tahoe
Resort continues to maintain its position as one of the most
progressive resorts in the country with the unveiling of sponsored
freestyle features in its award-winning terrain parks, and the opening
of its popular Superpipe.
“We’re stoked that our Superpipe is now open and we are excited to
introduce our newest signature features,” said Chris Castaneda,
Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort terrain park manager. “Teaming up with
partners like Red Bull and Capix has resulted in the development of
unique freestyle features that skiers and riders won’t find anywhere
else.”
Red Bull’s Rainbow Ledge Box is located in the terrain park on the
Pinball ski trail, off the Vista Express chairlift. The first dual
season feature of its kind, it will be used in the terrain park during
the winter and in Northstar® Resort’s downhill mountain bike park over
the summer. The Red Bull feature is a medium to large, modified rainbow
box with a ledge option in the center. This multi-option feature offers
multiple take-offs so you can approach the feature from either side of
the ledge or directly onto the ledge. The feature debuted in January
2009 and is now a staple in Northstar Resort’s terrain park.
Capix’s modified gateway, or battleship box, is coming soon, and
will be the latest feature to join the Pinball terrain park. The
feature depicts the Capix logo with multiple approaches and takeoffs.
This unique feature design was developed in collaboration with the
Capix team, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort and Snow Park Technologies (SPT).
Capix – makers of wake, skate and snowboard helmets, is a brand that
compliments Northstar Resort’s continued Safety awareness and Smart
Style education efforts.
Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s award-winning 420-foot Superpipe is now
open, offering guests smooth transitions to 18-foot walls. The
Superpipe will be one of the main attractions included in the final
stop of the Winter Dew Tour hosted by Northstar Resort February 19-22,
2009. Guests will have a front row seat to watch freeskiing’s and
snowboarding’s top athletes as they compete in Superpipe and slopestyle
events. For more information about the Winter Dew Tour please visit www.northstarattahoe.com.
This season, Northstar Resort will also serve as host to freestyle
