SPOONER LAKE TRAIL offers a Lake Tahoe hiking trail of refreshing pace and view. It's an easy 2-mile stroll around Spooner Lake, beginning at the intersection of State Route 28 and US 50.
Lush meadows and shimmering aspen groves surround Spooner Lake. The area is popular for fishing and abundant wildlife and wildflowers. It is also a starting point for several backgrountry trails -- Spooner Lake Trail is one of many.
Hike this trail for its wildlife and broad views of Lake Tahoe to the west and Washoe Valley to the east. Take in the beauty of each season's color, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. With a vertical ascent of 1,105 feet, this trail hikes gradually and circles back to its beginning.
Bring a camera and bring a lunch. Spend the afternoon hiking this mountain trail on your Lake Tahoe vacation.
