August 7 : Children’s Environmental Science Day, Incline Village - 11am-2pm
Free event. Children ages 8+ spend the day with scientists learning about the unique ecology, function, restoration and preservation of Lake Tahoe. Hands-on activities for the whole family. Get close & personal with fish and microscopic zooplankton , cook a snack in a solar oven, and more. August 8 : Historic Guided Walking Tour, Tahoe City - 10am
Free guided walking tour through Tahoe City. Hear fun stories, Indian legends, and historical accounts of what life has been like in Tahoe City for the past few hundred years. Meet at 10am in front of the Visitor Information Center, next to the fire station in Tahoe City. The tour ends at 11:30am at the Gatekeeper’s Museum. Call 530-583-1762 for details.
August 10 : The Ghost of Mark Twain, Incline Village - 7pm
This saga of Mark Twain's Tahoe experience begins in the Samuel Clemens boyhood home of Hannibal and skips along jaunty-jolly to his piloting days on the Mississippi, to his hapless Civil War misadventure, and continues with his overland journey to Nevada, culminating with his love affair with the Lake of the Sky.
